This project supports the development of a network of ITT representatives committed to building communities of practice and evolving provision for teaching mathematics.
What will you learn?
- You and those responsible for maths provision at your institution will review your practice and programme
- You will aim to ensure trainees develop an understanding of designing lessons informed by teaching for mastery principles
- Maths Hubs leaders will develop a dynamic awareness of the local needs of early career teachers and schools
- Maths Hubs leaders will ensure regular opportunities for collaboration and professional discussion across ITT providers, with this dialogue informing hub work
Programme Structure
This programme includes:
- Work Groups that support sustained networks between ITT providers and local Maths Hubs
- A focus on embedding initial preparation for teaching for mastery within ITT programmes
- Collaboration to identify and respond to the mathematical needs of early career teachers
Who should attend
- Lead participants from the ITT community who are directly involved in ITT and have responsibility for maths
- Participants may represent a range of ITT providers across the hub region, including HEI, SCITT and School Direct
- Participants may work across different phases of ITT, including EYTS, QTS (primary and secondary), and post-16
